生物活性：Zinc Protoporphyrin (Zn(II)-protoporphyrin IX) 是一种具有口服活性和竞争性的血红素加氧酶-1 (HO-1) 抑制剂，可显着减弱 (PG) 对 H 的保护作用2O2[1]。锌原卟啉被用作个体孕妇和儿童铁缺乏症的筛查标志物，也可结合血红蛋白浓度评估人群铁状况[2]。锌原卟啉具有抗癌活性[3]。
体外：Zinc Protoporphyrin (Zn(II)-protoporphyrin IX; 5 μM; 72 hours) 导致晚期凋亡和坏死细胞的比例从对照组的 10.9% 增加到 72 小时后的 30.4%[3]。
Zinc Protoporphyrin（1.25-40 μM；48 或 72 小时）对肿瘤细胞产生抑囊/细胞毒性作用[3]。
Zinc Protoporphyrin（2.5、5 μM；48 或 72 小时）导致细胞周期 G1 期细胞的剂量和时间依赖性减少[3]。
Zinc Protoporphyrin（1.25-40 μM；48 小时）导致裂解（活性）caspase-3 的积累[3]。
体内：原卟啉锌（12.5、25、50 mg/kg 腹腔注射；12.5、50 mg/kg 口服；从第 7 天到第 19 天）发挥剂量依赖性抗肿瘤作用，表现为延缓肿瘤生长[3]。
